Tattoos by other
artists – Pili Mo’o, Rinus, Miguel Ramos, Mattes, Yushi, Inge Norlin, Melli,
Finzi, Peter Kobliha, Adam, Herbert Hoffmann & Hori-Hiro
I have often wondered what it would be like being tattooed in
some of the old traditional styles, so when Pili Mo’o
invited me to have a tattoo in the traditional method of tapping
into the skin using a flat knife like tool I
accepted and had a tattoo round the back of the left ear and later
another behind the right ear. I was surprised
that this method was so gentle compared with the normal machine.
In the same year I was delighted to be able to get some tattoos on
my hands using the traditional Japanese method.
Hori-Hiro made a fantastic job of the work he did on both hands but
although he planned to do further work on my
hands he was unable to come to Europe as hoped, so it was not to be.
In 2002 I was invited to officially open a studio in Silsden, UK run
by Adam and he was keen to do some work on me.
So we agreed that I should have my nails tattooed and he did a fine
job.
Also in 2002 I had a tattoo done by Rinus in Middleburg, Holland. He
said he could tattoo the palm of my hand using
a special technique of dots rather than lines and this would stay
in. Unfortunately it did not work and much of the pigment came out.
It
was reworked later by Inge Norlin in Argentina and again in Sweden
but it has never really worked. Inge also did a very lovely heart on
my bum to reflect the influence that a friend, Bob in Australia had
on me through encouraging me to have specific work over the years.
In 2004 I decided that I would get some extra work done on my
forehead to compliment that done by Filip Leu and I met a Japanese
guy named Yushi whose work I was impressed with and he volunteered
to draft out some designs. He produced a fantastic design which was
unique. He subsequently tattooed this on my forehead, making a
excellent job of the work.
Before Paul O’Connor started on tattooing my head I had a small
tattoo on the side of it done by Mattes and another small one done
by Peter Kobliha. Both pieces were done in Germany.
Prior to going to a convention in Peru I met the organiser (Miguel
Ramos) of this convention and he placed a small Peruvian symbol on
each side of my neck to celebrate this forthcoming visit.
I have often met the famous tattooist Herbert Hoffmann and at the
age of 86 he tattooed his name prominently on my wrist. It can’t be
hidden and is another tattoo I will always treasure. In 2007 I had a
tattoo of a bird on my hand done by a lovely lady who has been
running a convention in Laberweinting which I loved attending. Also
in 2007 I had a really good flying cock tattoo done on my bum by
Finzi in Stavanger, Norway. Finzi was one of the organisers’ of a
convention held there.
